South Africa has developed in the past few years to be a popular vacation destination for both tourists and paraglider pilots.. Fantastic flight areas are connected by the width of the landscape, the hospitality of people and the fauna and Flora, to become a Mecca for cross country free flight pilots.

In December 2005 we discovered the cross country flight potential for a paragliding world record in South Africa. Dry hot desert air and strong wind make the country one of the best cross country flight areas in the world. We can develop on our experience made at that time as well as our total experience and are convinced, we can establish a new world record.

Starting from November 24, 2007 we will again depart in the desert between cape city and Johannesburg with the project X-SA. With our aids, who will support us with the world record attempt we will depart from cape city into the desert. For the next three weeks we will use every opportunity to break the existing world record. At the time of this writing the paragliding world record is 423 kilometres and we must exceed it by at least 1km to establish a new world record.

In order to make the project exciting for not only us , but also for those interested in free flight our homepage www.x-sa.ch will have daily flying reports, pictures and small videos of our successes and failures for the day. Additionally A cameraman will accompany us and will record the most exciting and most beautiful moments for a television documentation.
